"Finnish Etias is a fast-paced thriller set in post-World War II Finland that follows the trials and tribulations of a bunch of young guys trying to make it in this turbulent, yet relatively safe, environment. Even though Finland as a nation may not seem like an ideal place to learn martial arts, the story of Etias, his pals, and the nation's tumultuous instances are made more interesting with the inclusion of the unique tradition of Finland."

Why is this novel so great is that the writer, Esi Jaakko Esi. While I'm not much of a martial arts fan, I have read a lot of fiction and I truly enjoy reading books using a martial arts theme. Just a little bit about myself; I started training when I was twelve years old because it seemed a lot of fun. I hadn't ever believed that martial arts would be popular in the USA, however over time, I understood that a great many people have begun to get into them because of the film"Rocky Balboa"The Karate Kid".

The publication begins with Etias being asked by a friend if he would teach a course. He says he can do this and is very excited. One day, he meets with his buddy Mika (who later becomes the mother figure to one of Etias' buddies ), who's also interested in studying martial arts. After seeing her in action, Etias decides to help her master martial arts to be a teacher. They go to train for 2 weeks with a teacher, who's a well-known pro. During their training, Mika gets in touch with her past boyfriend, Tom, that asserts he's dying from cancer.

Mika tells Etias she understands he can save him in doing so, they become friends. However, the following daythey find out that Tom has died and they find that Tom was really employed as an assassin.

Tom is dead and they find that Tom is now a wanted man, since the assassin who murdered him remains at large. They have to search for a way to grab the assassin before matters get worse. When they eventually catch him up, Etias and Mika must work together to save the life of Tom's son, Tomiko. Even though Tomiko may not know what he did, Mika is convinced that Tom is innocent.

The book has a very unique premise and plot that draws you into it and makes you care about what happens to Etias and Mika. I don't feel that most people who have not read a martial arts publication would enjoy this one just as much. As I did, and ended up reading it in three days.
